Pandaman2000
Hey all. Im on holidays, for another few weeks (and then a few weeks of lazy school work-) and I would like to make an M14 model for BF2-it will be mostly for my personal use, and i'll post the model+configurations here on the forums for everyone to use. Public Domain FTW!

I have had no prior modding or modeling experience, but I am quite familiar with fiddling around with text documents.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M14 -thats the gun that I hope to model-I loved it in BF:V and CoD4.

I already have Gmax, and will download the BF2 gmax tools later.

Also, where can I find the existing models for current guns (such as the M16, M4, etc-) just so I have something to work off, and how do I create textures, and how do I make the guns show up in game, get put in a kit, and be used by the bots-sorry if that sounds like too much, there have to be tutorials somewhere smile.gif. My apologies too if this has been asked before.

Thanks.

Under Tutorials it shows step by step although it doesn't use GMAX. There is also an area devoted to GMAX also.

Also within the GMAX BF2 file, I believe here is a tutorial on the basics of creating an object with GMAX.

Check out Stormy's video tutorial at game-artist.net (quickest way to learn is to watch someone doing it) on how to model and texture a handweapon. He uses 3dsmax but gmax is quite similar for the most part.
Look for the threads entitled "Creating a weapon for source." Its geared towards half life 2 weapon exporting, but the first two parts are purely modeling and texturing which is what you want to learn wink.gif

There are other great tutes there on normal mapping and texturing so keep a bookmark of it for future reference. These forums also have a specific tutorial section as well. Good luck!
