I am trying to think of a way to have some of special hazards (caltrops, claymores, landmines, bouncing betty) appear on the map at different locations at different times.
First of all, mortars are PCOs and can just be added to a map with battlecraft (assuming the cfg/lst files are updated to support it). But the other special hazards are projectiles so, they can't just be dropped into a map with battlecraft. Projectiles have to be fired from either a handweapon or a vehicle weapon.
However, the artillery simulators used in BG42 and finn wars are invisible weapons that fire an artillery shell projectile. They simulate random artillery fire, by spawning at different times and in different areas. They sapwn up high and then fire straight down. The same idea could also be used to seed the map with caltrops, claymores, landmines, bouncing betties, and even punji sticks at specific locations at different time intervals, but using the spawn delay at start setting and then the respawn time setting afterwards. So, even after you find a booby trap, and either disarm it or set it off, you don't know how long it will take before it respawns.
Plus, unlike the deployable special type weapons, which are gone soon after the owner dies, the auto spawned versions will stick around.

Personally i'd like to see enviromental hazards eg. tons of logs rolling onto a road crushing the fools who dared ride it, or a pluge area where there would be a small cloud at around areas that would quickly drain ur health. And also hazards of fireing inside jungles setting trees on fire and burnin everyone down. But i doubt he bf:v or bf:2 or bf:2142, or bf: idiotic was will ever support it. But your idea sounds like dc or poe where random visible planes came and dropped grenades or artillery at random locations and also served as a mobile spawn point where troops would parachute into their eventual demise so these engines can surprise me.
You see? This is the reason why we must cut down trees!! The man lie to us that trees provide oxygen when really they have tiny microscopic spores that goes into our lungs slowly creeping up our esophogs and into our brain where it will slowly implat itself and control our minds.....MIIIIIND CONTOOOL!! AGHHH!!!

It sounds ok, but i have seen that mines do in fact last long after the owner's death. A pack of caltrops remained at our base in Quang Tri for a looooong time after the NVA responsible was killed. But that might have something to do with me putting the TimeToLive thing to 800 or so...
that sounds like alot of fun there dnamro.....instead of the sky being the spawn point can you put it underneath the map(bottom) coming up....poof...type booby....

Well, if its invisible, you can just set the trap spawner at the top of a tree or just somewhere off the main path. In ground should work, but probably not underground.
That's also interesting to find out that the Vietnam dropped weapons stay after you die. It might also be because all, except mortars, they are all firearms projectiles. I think its only the actual spawners that are tied to whoever spawned them.
