edit: originally posted about a specific error msg that I didn't really fix but reinstalled the mod and it went away.

Now I have this issue:




This has never occurred before. I even deleted all my old profiles and user cache but no luck. It not the aircraft carrier _C texture because if you get close to it the normal textures show up and the purple barf textures go away, however the rest of the map is unaffected and it seems to be only the aircraft carrier that has been affected.

Really bizarre.

i remember getting something similar on Dalian once, ages ago on my old ATI card - i don't recall if the carrier was affected as we didn't have SP64 maps back then and so never went anywhere near the carrier, but it did only affect one or two objects in the same way as your screenshot.

At fist I thought it was a driver issue but after copying the custom mod file over to another computer (from an nvidia to an ati computer) they now also have these issues. It has to be something in the mod.

edit: Nope it had to do with the mods/bf2 files being corrupt somehow. I think i added some bad files so I had to just replace the mods/bf2 file from a clean install. and issue is gone

well regardless of where it originates and the cause, it's a shader issue of some sort. my guess is that your cache and the mod itself didn't gel, i.e. your cache held a different version of a shader with the same name used in the mod, or some other such fruitiness (i forgot about the cache, but in my defence this was way back in 2005 or 2006, so i don't feel too bad)

okay here is a new error code that I can't seem to figure out. I am going through all the AI paths and the gameplayobjects files but I cant find anything wrong:

I don't think the ziplinerope has anything to do with it because I not only have no trouble with it in other maps, but I don't get this kind of message anywhere but here (so maybe its just a placeholder in the error catcher?).

any ideas?

if that log corresponds to what would normally appear one by one in onscreen popup boxes, then the 'zipline' entries merely show which template was the last item to load successfully before the error occurred, in this case the zipline

wrench is another popular one; there were lots of people out there debugging perfectly good wrenches and wondering why their problem still persisted

as for the ai error, and assuming your SA's are properly laid out, are all your layer numbers 1? if not, change them all to 1 and see if that makes them valid

That error happens on ATI cards when a texture with invalid size ( not a power of 2 ) is loaded.

Yeah, its easy to explain : in games without xpack the wrench is alphabetically the last thing loaded ( playable objects wise ) , while in xpack-expanded games its the zipline.

Did that include rebuilding the shaders ? If not, change video settings and load a map.
