Any one ever make one for BF2?
lifeoftheparty2121
no. you need to reinstall BF2 and patch it to whichever patch you prefer.
M.Combat
You could try dual boot and have one side 1.41 and one side 1.5. Alot of effort though
TNE26
A simple batch file should do it.. Afaik, no registry edits from 1.41 to 1.5.. Just rename the folders..

FYI, this is just a guess..

I think theres only 1 reg key needed to be change that holds the current version no.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2]
"Language"="English"
"Locale"="en_US"
"InstallDir"="G:\\Battlefield 2"
"Version"="1.5"

Could export it then copy it, replacing 1.5 with whatever version you also have.

and as TNE said, a simple batch file should be able to handle it all.

Version in registry is only used to decide whether to allow patches to install.
I run both 1.41 and 1.5 with the same 1.5 registry setting (online EA-ranked servers as well as offline co-op).

No, 1.5 online and 1.41 offline (although I did run 1.41 online as well after 1.5 was released since my primary server didn't upgrade). The point is there is no problem running both versions on the same system. Only patches older than 1.03 would have a problem coexisting because they would need the CD key in plain text instead of encoded.

If you have lots of shortcuts then you can use this util to search and replace on the paths.

Hmm...I've got both 1.5 and 1.41 installed. I basically did what it says in that thread, but with one exception: I didn't touch the BF2 folder in 'My Documents'.

I made a copy of BF2 (1.41), renamed it, modified the shortcuts, installed 1.5 and that's it. Works fine.

sorry to rez an older thread but I have recently been trying and failing at setting up a dual install for a 1.41 and a 1.5 to exist on the same drive. does any one have any tips?
Botkilla
All you have to do is:

1. Before you patch it to 1.5, go into 'C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games' and make a copy of the 'Battlefield 2' folder and rename it, e.g: 'Battlefield 2 v1.41' (leave it in the EA Games folder).

2. Install the 1.5 patch (it will only patch the 'Battlefield 2' folder).

And that's all there is to it... wink.gif

Just remember that when you're installing AIX (or any other 1.41 mod), you'll have to change the install location from '...\Battlefield 2\...' to '...\Battlefield 2 v1.41\...'

well my 1.41 install crashes so i must have to resintall from the beginning

Yeppers, that's what I do as well, only I have my 1.5 install on a different harddrive. Not necessary I know, just like it that way.
