it wont be the same time for every map, it depends on the size and the complexity/No. objects in the map.

i did strike at karkand last nite with a new town
over the bridge next to the gas station and a aircraft ship
frank_beans
imtheheadhunter has a few maps that need navmeshes, so he might come calling.

i just finished Aerial Combat and i need some testers but my isp is
so slow so i can only upload the aipathfining(folder), GPO.con, Staticobjects.con and ai(folder)
so plz download the map first coz i cant upload it all coz its not my map
and yes Agent-K did say i could as long as every one knows he did not do the sp\coop support

well, those maps already have navmeshers(at least i dont think anyone quit with out letting me know, id hope not).

Guadalcanal, clive is doing other things instead, and seems to be avoiding this map like the plague.(he hates x4 scale maps apparently)
Aberdeen, frank beans is making decent progress.
raid on agheila, ive got no idea. PC load letter hasnt said anything to me about this map in months.

if you really need to do a navmesh, maybe you could talk to PC load letter, or clive?

you're not wrong, i do hate trying to fix them but i've in fact been trying to fix up the navmesh genny itself, getting it to optimise less than what it currently does. no real luck though, i think i need a c++ guru or similar to show me if and how i can go about recompiling some of the stuff from the navmesh SDK. if i can fix that side of things then any future navmesh would benefit

I actually tried to re-compile the navmesh SDK some time ago and was successful in so far that it compiled both GTS.DLL and NAVMESH.EXE , using VC++ Express 5 which is freely available. Unfortunately either of them crash with memory allocation errors when running them sad.gif
If we only could bring out that 'tesselate' parameter to the user ( that was my original intention ) a lot of overoptimizing could be avoided.

hey MS smile.gif - it was actually the minimum angle and edge length part of the equation i was concerned about, in fact if it ended up doing almost no optimisations at all, i think it could be done in max afterwards under our watchful eye rather than the one-size-fits-all method it uses now, which is effectively killing any scale 4 meshes

i think it's navmesh.exe itself that contains this part (the source file is navmesh.cpp) so i might pick your brain later about a compiling how-to for c++ morons (me) if it's simple enough to do

i laugh in the face of CTD's, and pour cold water into the underpants of memory allocation errors. let me at it.

Navmesh editing help is mostly what I need for the BFA maps - or suggestions on how to get better navmeshes from the editor.
