This is a great tip to remove enemy name tags in server games (works for coop and multiplayer in BF1942 and Vietnam). It adds a whole new level of difficulty - when you can't just scan your sights for enemy nametags, and you have to really work to recognize friend from foe, especially in maps with a lot of trees and its hard to see the enemy (thanks to godizme for finding this):
go into you're BFvietnam or BF1942/settings folder.... look for server settings, then find: game.ServerNameTagDistance 50 game.ServerNameTagDistanceScope 300 if you change these to 0 you won't be able to see the enemy nametags at all .. even with sniper rifles: game.ServerNameTagDistance 0 game.ServerNameTagDistanceScope 0 (Does not effect single player games) -------------------- No, my Avatar is not my dog.

Unfortunately (in case there are some unlucky few in my situation and who still don't know about this) the 61.76 and 61.77 drivers cause a rather bizarre conflict with GeForce MX series cards, resulting in the water in BF1942 assuming a color best described as "Feverish Baby-Poop Green".

Aside from the tips suggested in the tweaking guide, I highly recommend overclocking software for your video card, provided you can restrain yourself with it and not go overboard. I can't say enough good things about RivaTuner 2.0 for nVidia cards. It turned my wimpy little GeForce4 MX440 into a silky-smooth graphics powerhouse, even WITH all video settings maxed out.

Just adding the phrase " command line parameters switches battlefield vietnam " to this thread. I tried searching using this criteria ages ago and couldnt find anything.
Anyone know how to launch a map from the command line Im sure its possible as BCV must use in the Test This Level file command. and 'hexing' the bfv.exe you can find the strings coop, tdm, evolution, customcombat, conquest etc. and mapname ....? Is it possible (thorough console commands or mods) to reove the bit of the HUD that says something like
Frank [killed] Harry It would add a whole new level of difficulty to the game, not being able to tell if the guy you just shot is really dead. Just a thought. |

The packrfa tool as well as battlecraft can launch the map, so there must be a command line option, I just don't know what it is. You can try launching from battlecraft to see if it will show you.
The death notifications can be removed in BF2, but I don't know of any way to completely remove them from BFV. However, you can get close by using underscores for the bot names and players, so that you don't know who killed who. You can also change the lexicon.dat so that all the weapons and vehicles display as underscores too. -------------------- No, my Avatar is not my dog.
