Animation and export tutorials (everything I learnt is from these videos)
CODE

Exporting a weapon model start to finish tutorial by Tonnie

Animating a weapon start to finish tutorial by Chuc

BF2 Improved Arm rig
CODE
Before exporting an animation, make sure the ANIMATED set is applied with all objects Unhidden (Use unhide all then apply the set) otherwise it will crash due to the set not being applied on all bones (Some are hidden for ease of the rig)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjcLtxIhm30
-Removes the need for orientation constraints and gets rid of the constant hassle or changing the weighting, and so on
-When linking an object via link constraint the orientation and rotation follows with it as if an orientation constraint was applied anyway
-However the ability to rotate the wrists during a constraint is allowed which usually isn't possible under normal circumstances such as how chuc's tutorials teach
Comes in 2 versions
Normal: Rigged the same as the original setup using upper arm and wrist for the IK Chain
http://www.mediafire.com/?fgd10hyv9rqc7qj
Special: Having the IK linked to the collar rather than the upper arm
http://www.mediafire.com/?njat741ea2d8ush

Importing an existing animation
CODE
First get the 1p_setup.ske from soldiers/common/animations and put it somewhere where you can easily open it in max when needed.
Then you open up a clean scene, go to bf2 > bf2 utilities > skeleton importer and pick that .ske file
Then go file merge, and merge the FinalAnimationSetup (assuming you didn't delete it after I released my rig, as my rig doesn't work using this method)*
Then go file merge again and import the gun mesh, with correct naming like you would if you were making an animation
Make sure the gun mesh's are linked to the torus (REALLY IMPORTANT BEFORE NEXT STEP)
Then go bf2 > bf2 utilities > BAF Animation importer and bam, it should all be setup

Extra points, setting up IK chains and links etc will stop the movements of the bones to which you applied that to, so editing animations is restricted either to redoing all these movement using the newly make IK chain or only editing the animation using the rotate tool.
You can delete all the frames and import a different animation ONLY if it's in the same 'session' as when you made the scene, saving the file and opening later then trying to import a BAF will do nothing.

*This step can be skipped if you don't need to anything than just the bones (no arm mesh will be there)

Anything missed or any additional information missing? Feel free to reply so I can add it.

Whom ever setup or created the download will need to include this and re upload the file again.

M.Combat can you have a look at M21EBR animations. The first person view is good but the 3rd person is weird. Looking at soldier,it looks like his hands are out at his sides like a bird taking off, with the rifle stuck at an angle.

Far too late a reply
For 3p animations I just put faith in the fact they'll line up correctly with whatever weapon I used as a base and it's 3p animations. Sometimes the base weapons 3p model isn't centred the same as the 1p model and thus this occurs.
However in your case he's in T-pose which means you're missing the file the 3p animation system is looking for or I incorrectly set it up. Either is equally likely.

On another note, website updated with xm8 red dot silenced.

If I take credit for that I'll sound more creative than I actually am.

It was just my weapons folder rotting so I decided to spice it up with a red dot and silencer (as originally it had an eotech with no texture)
I thought it was from one of Nomads mesh hack packs, but it wasn't. So I have no clue where it came from.

Yeah, after I downloaded I went looking through Frank's weapon icon pack for a good weapon icon, and then into Nomad's pack, and no sign of an XM8! What other kind of hidden goodies have you got stashed in there? tongue.gif

The only place I can think of finding this is from the hidden XM8 in one of Jones's maps however it doesn't look the same and when I found it, it had no more than a mesh and a con file. (And the mesh was horribly setup)

Cool release but I had to rename most of the animationsys refernces due to misspelling errors but one still remains uncorrected:the akimbo Mk23.
Error: texture not found "frame"?<DISREGARD...borrowed the textures from Dogs of War's Mk23 and works fine

You misspelled references. tongue.gif

But seriously, do you remember what all the reference problems were? My fault for the bad download as I was the one who uploaded it, though I have no problems with it in my personal install. Double checking the animation files (in my current install) I don't see any misspelling, but then maybe I had already fixed those in my personal install but uploaded a different copy for downloading?

I'll see about replacing the download with one that is more 'user friendly.' blush.gif

UPDATE:

Yup, the previous version was co-dependent on another weapon installed. Hopefully I got all those references correctly pointing now to a non-dependent individual Mk23_akimbo install ( Sounds, textures, the whole shebang should be within the Mk23_akimbo now without having to edit any file paths for it to work).
