Heady's tutorial was great but you can also do it in the editor rather than code and everyone likes having choices
1) Start the editor and load the mod BF2
2) Switch to object editor
3) In the object editor on the side you should see the word "Objects". Click on the plus sign beside it to expand. the expand "vehicles" and in vehicles expand "Air". In air expand "ahe_ah1z" and select the files that doesn't look like a folder

4) Scroll down in that bar until you see Ahe_ah1z and it branching out to a couple things. Right click on ahe_ah1z and select "Add Cloned Child". Navigate to Ari_f35b and select AIR_F35b_SidewinderLauncher
5) Rename it to anything you like. I usually try to keep it related to the name of the vehicle I'm editting so I'll use Ahe_AH1z_SidewinderLauncher. If this is one of your first times modding I suggest you do it to make the tutorial easier to follow.^
6) At the bottom of the list there Ahe_ah1z_sidewinderLauncher should appear. Right click on it and navigate to aim9m_sidewinderdummy. Select that and add it to the vehicle. Do this once more and you should have 2 sidewinder dummies.
7) Allign the two dummies to be where you want them to be on the helicopter. Hold the shift key to rotate the missiles.
8) Expand Ahe_ah1z_SidewinderLauncher and select one of the dummies. Right click on one and select "Make Barrel"
9) Select ahe_ah2z_sidewinderLauncher again.
10) in the tweaker bar on the side open fire and make sure fire input is set to PIAltFire.
11) Open fire and tweak the mag size to be 2
12) Open firearm and set the projectile template to Aim9m_sidewinderand then set the item index to one.
13) Save now!
14) Go to your battlefields 2/Mods folder and make a copy of bf2.
15) Open the copy of bf2,open objects_server.zip.
16) open up the editor folder in bf2 or copy of bf2 drag the vehicles folder into objects_server.zip.
17) Load up a map that has an AH-1z and shoot down some bots!

Pictures are coming when I get around to doing them

If the preexsisting vehicle has no weapon do not set it to pialtfire. Set it to PIfire. Pialtfire means you press the alt fire button (Right mouse button usually). Pifire means you press the fire key to shoot

Hi Red, I got stuck at #6. After getting the Ahe_ah1z_sidewinderLauncher, I right click on the file, but I don't see anything about aim9m_sidewinderdummy. Am I suppose to add a new, existing or cloned child?

*bump*
I found a video tutorial made by deleted_screen, that's very similar to this one. There's also another tutorial that explains how to get the lockon hud for the sidewinders to work. I'm happy that I got it to work. Here's a link if anyone else wants to learn about that.

Here's Youtube link to adding weapons to vehicles.

A vehicle is a vehicle....land, air, sea, stationary weapon, it's really all the same.

Hey, I have a problem. I do all of your instructions exactly, but when I try to add an existing child, I see a bunch of stuff on the sidewinder, but not a dummy.
