Well, I saw the following story about EA not going to have SP for Star Wars Battlefront and it just
proves how it has been going around killing the SP that the other game companies had previously done nicely.

Looks like I'm not going to be buying this game either. Sorry EA, no money from me, unless. It says that there is
a Coop mode. Don't know if that means it will have bots or just only humans.

Just tried this and offline MP with bots, full maps, full AI has been added. How times change. Apparently DICE were hit by a lot of people requesting this and now it's been announced that the sequel will have a full campaign. At last !

Some screen shots here: http://blog.michaelzfreeman.org/updated-si...rs-battlefront/

Thanks for the review. I'm going to check it out.

No problem ! Probably the shortest review ever laugh.gif.

This is a win for bot fans. smile.gif

Let's hope this translates into other Dice titles.

Hey, yes, this is what I'm wondering. DICE had to write the pathing and AI routines for Frostbite 3. They will probably use all that in the campaign for the sequel. If the "Skirmish" maps bring more people to the party and sell more games then we may see them getting interested in user made maps, which needs an editor ... but maybe I'm getting ahead of myself there ...

full AI has been added.

so, this is an automatic upgrade? i.e. i install the game, and then it will patch itself online, and these features are part of the patch?

if it's a seamless integral part of the game now, i'm suddenly a lot more interested than i was previously...

Hi Clive. Not sure when it was patched in. There has been a recent patch but that was not AI stuff (not that I can see), It just comes with the full game. There's the "Missions" which is not just a tutorial. It includes "Battles" that which are sort of BF2 like. Tokens replace tickets, but there's no bases and hence no ticket loss. They are collected, first side to 100 wins. "Survival" mode I have not tried yet.

"Skirmish" includes 7 "Walker Assault" maps with both and ground and air game play. "Fighter Squadron" is 6 maps of air only play.

I've not figured out yet if buying the DLC adds the DLC map to these modes.

Forgot to add currently 10.99 on cdkeys.com

Well, I finally got it. It has bots and it seems ok, but just starting out. I've only done a few maps, so maybe I'll warm up to it later. Flying is no fun with the mouse, for me. I guess I need more practice. I much prefer BF2.
Now that I bought it, I found this review on YouTube. Caution, bad language.

I don't think the AI is anything as sophisticated as BF2 AI but they might upgrade for the sequel. But it's interesting. There's the multiplayer-like game modes but Survival is more like a short episode of a single player campaign, plus DICE really nailed the Star Wars atmosphere. I keep feeling like I'm running around in a Star Wars dream I'm having.

According to some sources, we might get offline update for DLC maps too. Very few time passed after last dlc and DICE seems to listen to feedback of their fans.

Have DICE/EA ever made any noises about further bot battles being added ?

So full SP campaign in the next release of this game is gonna be cool. Plus DICE might get carried away with adding AI to MP as well but I'm not going to bet on it.

With a planned full SP campaign, Multiplayer bots are not planned. .. but if there is enough of a demand, there is a possibility it could be added in a patch.

Talking of Staw Wars themed MP bots. Have you seen this ?

Could be an alternative to waiting around for DICE/EA to remember they invented the coolest MP bots ever laugh.gif

Origin early access is up, seems it has solo and coop bot support for team deathmatch, and onslaught mode where it's only you vs AI. Both have game customisation options such as number bots per team, score limits, hero requirements, plus more, and a choice of 6 maps.

Hopefully support for the bigger modes gets patched in later like the first game.

EDIT: looks like these options are console only and coop was removed from PC entirely

EA is getting slammed with negative publicity for Battlefront 2, all in relation to their loot box system. It was advertised as a microtransaction system designed to allow the DLC content to be offered for free in hopes of keeping up player counts after BF1 had a dramatic player drop off.

The backlash started in the open beta, when players realized that the way the system was enabled, that it was effectively pay to win, which made it un-fair to those who did not pay. So, EA temporarily removed the ability to purchased loot boxes, after a discussion with Disney :

https://www.theverge.com/2017/11/16/1666823...ions-removed-ea

Then then someone made a comment on Reddit that it would take an average of 80 hours of gameplay to unlock Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. EA tried to justify this as a reward, and it was the most downvoted comment in the history of Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsBattlefron...s_than_the_top/

Without a microtransaction system, EA's stock is falling:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2017/...o/#16a4b2986f37

And the loot box system is now being considered as gambling, with the legal restictions associated:

https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/259503-b...attacked-hawaii

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/exploring...b/1100-6455184/

An online petition to take the license agreement for Star Wars games from EA is catching on:

https://www.kitguru.net/gaming/matthew-wils...is-catching-on/

This will be interesting to see how this shakes out and what it means from EAs efforts to turn the Battlefront and Battlefield games into a service.

EA is trying to put up a good show, but based on past performance that all it is -- a show.

EA CEO is claiming that they listen to the community, but I would bet good money that after the Christmas sales are over, EA will put in loot boxes and the Play to win mechanics right back in. Oh it might be adjusted a bit, but it will still be Play to win, because that is how EA makes money on games these days. Once the games are in the hands of the players, the Star Wars fans won't be able to resist, because there is no other choice for cutting edge Star Wars goodness.

Its all smoke and mirrors. Come January, EA will do the slight of hand change up and, like magic, MTX will be back in the game.

The writing is on the wall. EA has already said they won't make MTXs only for cosmetics. (After all, they can't make back that 3 billion loss in stock value only on cosmetics or other non P2W MTXs.

The only way to make it fair to players with MTX would be to match up players with similar levels.

But, EA does not care about the player. All EA cares about is the earnings. The only way to fight back to is boycott EA games and force them to make games that are fair to players. The petition needs to be about boycotting EA games, not to force them out of the license agreement over Star Wars.
