Normal map creation for a skin pack I'm doing. Taking short breaks to check out the solar eclipse atm. cool.gif

The weapon I'm texturing had no normal maps, so I'm creating some in Gimp. Tutorials I've read say the best way is by creating a height map then normal mapping that... but since every part of the weapon has height/depth properly done with the mesh that would be kind of pointless...

So I've taken the texture, removed the details, and am using a Gimp add-on called "Insane bump" and am tweaking/editing the results. The only thing I want left is the 'edging' of the normals to create proper shadowing, a person does not want any other parts sticking up or caving in on the mesh normals.
