Need help with coding BF2, attach GBU to our Tornado

Hi, i'm working on the OPK Mod again and I need help.

I want attach the GBU Paveway III under our Tornado, but it want work.
Our Tornado has a special folder with tweak system and that made me insane. I tried it first with text editor, but I don't get it working. Then I've tried it with the editor and it was my first time to work with it. It fails again. I've no idea where the problem is.

If anyone is here, who can help me and has more coding skills, like a sound designer and hud coder laugh.gif , that would be great.

If anyone want help me, I can post the foldersystem and codes to explain, how the tornado works. I'm happy for every tip or idea to solve my problem.

If you attach the tweak files I can give it a look. Problems attaching bombs to planes is usually small easy to miss things.

Nice. If I'm at home I post the tweak files. I'm at work atm.

If it was a normal plane system with one folder and one tweak file, I think that's no problem. But our tornado uses more folders and tweaks. I will show you later.

our folder/tweak system from the Tornado IDS:

main = the whole plane with the pilot controls. The Tornado is a two seater jet. pilot uses cannon and aa missiles. the copilot can use wing or fuselage mountet weapons.

mw1 = is the MW-1 "Mehrzweckwaffe 1", a multipurpose weapon. --> PlayerControlObject tornado_mw1

w_kuehlschrank = is the GenericFireArm tornado_w_kuehlschrank . it is the firearm for "tornado_mw1"

w_flare_pod , w_stoersender and w_tank are under the wings.

flare_pod is used as flare dispenser, stoersender and tank has no function

what that "w" stand for in the foldernames, i don't know. at first I thought, that are the wingmounted parts. but the w_kuehlschrank is mountet at the fuselage. huh.gif

posting all the tweaks would not be so clear. i packed a .rar with the tornado vehicle folder, the effects folder and the weapon folder from the objects_server. and the tornado vehicle folder from the objects_client. Attached File  TORNADO_GBU24_30_12_2016.rar ( 1.7MB ) Number of downloads: 1

The code seems needlessly complex and convoluted.
For example your sidewinders are added as a weapon under your landing gear section? They could be right at the top with 'ObjectTemplate.addTemplate tornado_main'



This code is very hard to follow, and I'm sorry if I make any mistakes with my assumptions here. I'm just trying to follow what I can see.
You have a variant of your plane named tornado_lgb which is the variant that's meant to have the GBU bomb, under this variant is a co-pilot which is meant to be able to launch the GBU? (tornado_lgb_copilot), and you're trying to do with by adding tornado_laserguided to the co-pilot code? The tornado_laserguided references a bomb named gbu24, which I assume you pulled from AIX?

Why was it renamed from GBU27 to GBU24? The meshes still reference the GBU_27 file path, so you're going to have a bomb with no textures.


If I were you, under the tornado_lgb_copilot section I would be doing this:

That confused me too, because the textures are in the client folder. Ingame it loads the textures as it is. I don't know why the editor don't want or find the textures.

That's right. It confuses me totally. The coder who has do this thing, needs a kick in the butt. laugh.gif
Edit: I asked a old team member about the sidewinder. It is coded to the landing gear, because the swing-wings.

That's right. I tried to use the mw1/kuehlschrank tweaks as example/Base for the LGB coding. But I didn't understand it overall.

I renamed it. I didn't know about the reference to the meshes where it set to GBU27. That was my fault.

but one thing: if i drop the bombs, under the fuselage the dropped bomb stays. also i drop a bomb and you see it falling and exploding, but it is always visible under the plane.

Under the MultiFireComp for AIX_F117a_GBU_27Launcher, should the BarrelName be GBU_27dummy instead of AIX_F117a_GBU_27Launcher_Barrel?
