How to run BF2 Patch v1.41 and v1.5 next to each other on your system
This is a little tutorial, how to install BF2 with 1.5 Patch next to your BF2 1.41 Patch mods. It works for all BF2 mods.Forum thread.
Table of contents
- A. Go to “C:\Program Files\EA Games” and duplicate the whole Battlefield2 Folder (Copy and Paste).
- B. Copy all your BF2 Desktop Icons and paste them in a new created folder (on desktop).
- C. Now you have to relink the copied desktop icons with the “BF2.exe” to the copied BF2 folder named “Battlefield2_v1.41”.
- D. Go to your local Harddrive “C\Documents and settings\Your Windows Username\My Documents\Battlefield 2”.
- E. Now run the BF2 v.1.5 Patch
- F. Install your 1.5 mod.
A. Go to “C:\Program Files\EA Games” and duplicate the whole Battlefield2 Folder (Copy and Paste).
Now you should have a 2nd Folder named “Copy of Battlefield 2”. Rename that
one to whatever you like, I named mine: “Battlefield2_v1.41”. This copied folder will remain as the main folder for all mods with BF2 Patch v1.41.
B. Copy all your BF2 Desktop Icons and paste them in a new created folder (on desktop).
I suggest to name this folder: “Battlefield2_v1.41”.
C. Now you have to relink the copied desktop icons with the “BF2.exe” to the copied BF2 folder named “Battlefield2_v1.41”.
You can use this util
to search and replace on all the windows shortcuts you have.
Therefore right click on one of your copied Desktop icons, for example “Project Reality Singleplayer”. Within the context menu choose “Properties”. The destination path is shown like this: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +modPath mods/pr_sp_08 +menu 1 +fullscreen 1".
C.1. Adjust the Shortcut Folder name to whatever you named your copied BF2 Folder to.
Mine is named “Battlefield2_v1.41”. So windows shortcut will read "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield2_v1.41\BF2.exe" +modPath mods/pr_sp_08 +menu 1 +fullscreen 1".
C.2. Then do the same with the “Start in” pathway right underneath:
Change "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2" to "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2_v1.41". Do the same changes to all Desktop Icons within the copied folder.
D. Go to your local Harddrive “C\Documents and settings\Your Windows Username\My Documents\Battlefield 2”.
Duplicate (Copy and paste) the “Battlefield 2” Folder in there. Rename the copied folder, mine is named “Battlefield2_v1.41”.
E. Now run the BF2 v.1.5 Patch
F. Install your 1.5 mod.
Now you are able to play your favourite BF2 games in both Patch versions.
